Artist Statement:
This piece is part of my "Spirit Portrait" ongoing series in which I work closely with a client to create a symbolic visual narrative of their spirit through seasons of growth. Together, my client and I spent weeks talking through her story, choosing plants and animals to accurately represent her story, and creating a composition that truly captured the depths of her soul.

The cool thing is, I believe this piece, like all the "Spirit Portraits" I've created, speaks to everyone on a universal level.
Because after all, we are all connected. 

This piece is meant to be viewed as a cyclical narrative, beginning from the left with the elephant, and following the layers of symbols around and back up to the top where an opening in the drawing leads the eyes into the portal of the night sky. Here, in this place of cocooned safety, the viewer can take in the entire piece- a space meant for reflection and contemplation of one's own journey through the symbols present in this piece.
